Here is the full slate of Round 3 tournament games - all game results have now been recorded. (All results are listed in terms of the final POC total after the bid has been taken into account - this means the modified total may be greater than +10 POC if the player who lost the bid wins the game.)

In Game 12, the Allies with a bid of 1.5 set up a Barents on 1 strategy. It was challenged by the Axis, which sortied the Germans and Italians to the South Pacific. Leaving 1 pocket battleship in the Baltic and having one fail its speed roll and then having the Eagle's airstrike disable the Scharnhorst resulted in a short-handed Axis fleet's defeat on turn 1 and an Axis concession. When the dust settled, both German BCs and 2 Italian cruisers were bottled up in the Neutral port. Sinking two Allied battleships was not enough recompense for losing 4 Axis cruisers and a pocket battleship. This is a subsequent Area game of War at Sea between us. Thanks for playing John.

Mike Pacheco (allies) has defeated Jim Kramer (axis) in game #1 of the 3rd round of the tournament. T1 and the axis surface forces went to the SA to win a 4 POC start. Force losses there were 2 UK BB's VS a DKM BC and 2 pocket battleships. As the axis I anticipated my subs and split forces would have a chance to build on that start.
That never happened. Allied ASW consistently cleared axis subs and sank many of them keeping the force impudent. Surface battles were limited and bloodless until T7. That and all 3 allied convoys making Russia led to an insurmountable allied 10 POC lead after T7 and my resignation.
